There are a few risks and complications associated with ear reshaping procedures. However, some minor complications which could occur include:
- Bleeding
- Mild skin infections
- Asymmetry
- Noticeable scarring
It is estimated that there is also a 5% risk of prominence recurrence. However, an additional procedure can easily correct this problem.
Some patients are concerned that the procedure may cause a loss of hearing. However, this isn’t one of the risk factors you need to worry about. Ear reshaping will not impact your hearing as work is carried out on the external part of the ear.
All of the complications and risks will be discussed in detail during your consultation with Mr Horlock. He will be able to assess your individual risk factors and decide which method is required.
